Beyond Traditional Paradigms: New Perspectives on Knowledge in Humanities and Social Sciences

Interdisciplinary Conference 2026

23rd - 24th November 2026

The ways in which knowledge is produced and shared across the humanities and social sciences are undergoing significant change. The rapid development of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, alongside wider social, cultural, and economic changes, is challenging established disciplinary boundaries and traditional understandings of knowledge.

Building on the interdisciplinary dialogue established through previous workshops, this year’s conference, Beyond the Traditional Paradigms: The New Panorama of Knowledge Production in Humanities and Social Sciences, will consider what these changes mean for the future of research. Bringing together leading academics from the University of Oxford and Jilin University, this workshop will explore emerging approaches across philosophy, sociology, law, economics and the arts. Four thematic sessions will delve into how technological and social change is reshaping human judgement, across communities and institutions. Through an interdisciplinary dialogue, both the opportunities and questions raised by new forms of knowledge production will be examined.
